Open Position – Part Time – Camp Assistant

This is a temporary position.

Assistant position: Starting June 18th – August 10                                                                                                                                                                                                          Mon-Fri 12:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Open position is in our Toddler program, ages 18 mo – 3 yr. Desired Candidate for the position would have a natural love for children. Must be willing to work as a team to help create a loving, clean and educational environment for young children. Must be willing to take direction while also exhibiting initiative to create and maintain program activities.
All Positions require
High School Diploma
CPR certificate
Background check, Fingerprinting, & a current TB test

Primary Summer Camp | June 18th – August 10th

This year, we are offering a summer camp experience to our primary children. Each day of the week will have a different theme with activities based around that theme as laid out below.  While this is not a Montessori program, we will hold to some of the principals of a Montessori education, such as supporting students to be independent and treating each other and our environment kindly.

Elementary Summer Camp| 6 weeks of fun!

Summer Camp (1)

This year, we are offering a summer camp experience to our elementary children. Each week will have a different theme with activities based around it as laid out below. There will be one teacher who will be present throughout the whole summer, but each week, a new expert teacher will join to teach us about new areas of expertise. While this is not a Montessori program, we will hold to the principals of a Montessori education, such as supporting students to be independent and treating each other and our environment kindly.

June 25th – 29th – Kids on the road (bike camp) with Ms. Mandi   FULL

This camp is reserved for children 8 and older who are strong bike riders.  We’ll be learning about bike safety and maintenance as well as biking throughout our community during the week including the library, MSU children’s garden, and the dairy store.  We will have a final long journey on Friday where we will bike to Potter Park Zoo for the morning and Hawk island for swimming in the afternoon where students will be picked up by parents.

July 2nd – 6th – International Camp  with Alumni Student Marie Adele Grosso.   NO CAMP JULY 4  

Ms. Alex, our Elementary Assistant, will be working alongside Marie Adele, who has planned 4 days  of international exploration for campers.  Each day they will explore a new country through books, online research, art and food.  They will have an online visit with friends of Marie Adele living abroad – from a different country each day.  

July 9th – 13th – Woodworking with Mr. David  FULL

In the woodworking class the children will learn how to hammer, saw, measure, plan, glue, sand, and finish their projects.   We usually have a project of the day and children are encouraged to make projects of their own design. We have lots different dimensions of lumber and fasteners which students will learn to shape and turn into what they want. You may sign up for one week, or both.  $20.00 material fee.  

July 16th – 20th – More Woodworking with Mr. David

July 23rd – 27th –  Water Week with Ms. Alyce   FULL

Water week will be spent exploring water in as many ways as possible. We will be doing crafts with water, cooking, experiments with water and of course playing with water! Time will also be spent discussing water conservation and what we can in our everyday lives to save water. One day of the week will be spent at the Aquatic Center in East Lansing. Be prepared to GET WET!

July 30th – August 3rd – No Camp

August 6st –  10th – Plot to Plate Camp with Ms. Mandi 

Students will be working in the school gardens and greenhouse as well as the kitchen for this camp.  We’ll work with seed starting, harvesting, and weeding.  We’ll use the food from the garden to prepare yummy snacks and experiment with salad dressings, baking, chopping skills, and trying new foods.  We’ll try our hand at garden art and visit a farmers market and a community garden as well.  Students will leave with their own herb garden.
